CMS boosts Middle East infrastructure & projects expertise

CMS has announced the appointment of Infrastructure & Projects expert Mary Allan to the firm’s Middle East power and water team.

Allan has worked in the Middle East for over 20 years, advising both private and public sector clients across the energy and infrastructure sector. During that time, she has been involved in the region’s ongoing programme of independent power projects and water destination projects, advising governments on regulatory issues for new power and water projects. She has also developed expertise in relation to Oman corporate and commercial law, particularly as applicable to energy and infrastructure projects and privatisations. Allan’s recent experience includes advising Oman Power and Water Procurement Company on the procurement of three independent water desalination projects and on the design and first implementation of a new, more flexible procurement process for Oman’s independent power projects; Petroleum Development Oman LLC on its competitive procurement of the first utility-size solar IPP in Oman; and Majis Industrial Services SAOC on its competitive procurement of a joint venture operation & maintenance partner for its industrial water utility assets.

Ben Ewing, head of the CMS Oman office commented, “Mary is a fantastic addition to the team as we continue to build our presence in the region. Having spent much of her career in Oman, Mary has deep industry knowledge and is very well-regarded across the Sultanate, particularly for her government advisory work. Her skills and knowledge will be a real benefit to clients and support us to grow our energy and infrastructure offering across the Middle East.”

Mary Allan said, “I’m excited to be joining the team at CMS. The Sultanate’s focus on renewables and economic diversification means the projects I’m working on call for an increasingly diverse array of resources. CMS’ expansive international platform comprising energy experts combined with its strong client focus will ensure that I’m able to deliver on my client’s needs.”
