Clyde & Co expands to Oman

The firm has opened an office in Oman in association with Fatma Al Mamari Advocacy and Legal Consultancy. Managing partner Marla Valdez and legal director Stephen McKenna will join the team.

Clyde & Co has announced the opening of an associated office in Muscat, Oman. Clyde & Co’s association with Fatma Al Mamari Advocacy and Legal Consultancy Firm complements Clyde & Co’s four existing offices in the Middle East.

Joining the team ‘on the ground’ will be managing partner Marla Valdez, who joins Clyde & Co following a 20 year career with another major international law firm, and legal director Stephen McKenna, who relocates from Clyde & Co’s office in Abu Dhabi.

The Muscat team currently includes associates Fatma Al Mamari and Fatma Makki, along with business services staff, who will work closely with other specialists in Clyde & Co’s other offices in the region. The Oman office will advise clients on foreign direct investment into the country and a broad range of corporate and commercial law issues, including mergers & acquisitions, employment, intellectual property, and regulatory and compliance matters, with a strong focus on shipping, insurance, education, infrastructure and energy sectors.

Marla Valdez joins Clyde & Co having previously been co-chair of the global mining and natural resources sector as well as chair of her former firm’s global oil and gas group. Marla has advised clients on a range of energy and infrastructure projects, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory and compliance matters.
